Response Procedure [Draft]
First person to respond: When you are paged or called:
- Go to the Fire House with your Turnouts and Wildland gear
- Open left door
- Open Rear door and block with cinder block
- Turn on main fan (switch next to rear door)
- Start the Tender
- Start the Green Attack Engine
- Write the location of the emergency on the blackboard
between the doors (be specific)
- Wait for another volunteer to arrive
Other than first person: When you are paged or called:
- Go to the Fire House with your Turnouts and Wildland gear
- Make sure the location is accurately noted
When there are two or more volunteers:
- Call Dispatch using truck code to say responding
- Proceed to the emergency (take both Green Attach Engine and Tender(if
fire))
- On arrival, size up the scene for safety and need for other
resources
- Call Dispatch to report your size-up and other resource
needs
- Position trucks away from fire for quick escape, and Tender for easy return
for more water.
Use hose to reach fire, keep trucks away.
- Attack the fire or address the medical problem
- Upon return, refill tanks and restore equipment, then call
Dispatch as returned and ready.
On Scene:
- Use Green for initial attack
- Use 1.5" hose to keep Green Attack filled from Tender
DO make sure you note the location of the emergency
specifically DO call dispatch when you have two or more people
DO NOT go to an emergency alone DO NOT go to an emergency if
you are sick, hurt, or incapacitated
