"You have the common ancestors as Joseph Renas (1841) and Mary Thomas (1836). Joseph's immigration date is listed as 1894 on the 1910 census. That would be 20 years to late. Everything else seems to make sense. They had a daughter named Mary Margaret, born 12 July 1873 in the Azores and died 25 August 1952 in Contra Costa county. She married first to a John R. Rocha and had 2 children by him. Lucile (1896) and Alfred (1898). Her second husband was a Joseph Silveira. Joseph was living with her in 1920 giving his birth year as 1839. Mary seems to have died between 1910 and 1920.
A widow named Mary Renas born 1855 in the Azores. Don't know maiden name. She had 5 children. 3 where living with her in 1900, Mary (1892), Annie (1896) and Frank (1891). Oldest son Joseph (1877) was maried to a Mary Silveira (1885). They had 3 children, Edward (1912), Mabel (1914) and William (1917).
I also noticed that you haven't listed my brother-in-law's family yet.
That is a shame because he and my nephew are the only living with last name of Renas (of Portuguese ancestry). As my nephew has a wife who either can't have or doesn't want children the name will die with him."
