Karl D'Aaron Small Obituary

Karl Small Karl D'Aaron Small passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the age of 82, after battling cancer.

Karl grew up in the East Bay Area of California, and started his family there. He served in the US Army, was good working with his hands, loved camping, fishing, shooting, and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed his two horses, donkey, and dogs.  He looked great in a handle bar mustache and top hat, and was really at home in Virginia City, Nevada where he resided since retirement.  He was a member of the Federation of Eagles Comstock Aerie 523, and the Julia Bulette chapter of E. Clampus Vitus for which he became the Humbug then a Graybeard. His wife, family, and friends will truly miss him.

He is survived by his wife Connie of 23 years; sister Penny (George) Smith; brothers Mike Houston and Greg; sons Eric (Eva) and Alex (Lisa); his grand-children Teri (Jared) York, Travis, Katherine, and Alexander; his great-granddaughter Molly York and another to come in June.

Karl D'Aaron Small was the son of Frank Aaron Small and Marie Estelle Harris. The Smalls and Harrises immigrated to America in the early 1600's. The Smalls and one branch of the Harrises came to California in the early 1850's.

A memorial celebration will be held in Virginia City, Saturday, May 7, 2016, 11 am, at the Clampers building on B street. Family and friends are invited. Bring your favorite food for the potluck.
